It's been some years since I had to go onto a gluten-free diet and not been able to go to a chippy since. Then I find Sammy's on a visit to Fort William. Phone them up to order it and about 30 minutes later pick up a container of cod in a beautiful gluten-free batter with chips and mushy peas. I had difficulty coping with the size of the portion but believe me, it was so good I forced every bit of it down. Sammy does ordinary fish and chips too and I am sure they are every bit as good and don't need to be ordered.

"Well worth a visit if in area"
Was quite an eye opener on entering as one side has the fish and chip bar and the other a sweet shop come tobbacconist. But as soon as I saw the cooked fish I knew it was going to be good and was not dissapointed. While in Scotland I had them here and at mr c's fish wisky bar at the Inverbeg inn which states it has the best fish and chips in the area. Well Sammy's is far superior to what is offered at mr C's and will definately go back the next time I am there. MyMonkeynuts Bradford, United Kingdom

"Excellent fish and chips"
Long queue but well worth the wait. The fish was cooked to perfection, choice of batter or breadcrumbs, and we chose the breadcrumbs. The chips were good too. I think the queue spoke for itself though as mostly it was locals.... Jane M Nottingham, United Kingdom

"Sammy's Fish & Chips"
Sammy's Fish & Chips is a thing of local legend. There are few places in the world that can perfect the art of deep frying things as well as Sammy's. I remember once I gave the girl behind the counter a tenner and she gave me back my change battered and deep-fried. In all seriousness, there are very few things on the menu which don't come deep fried, most of which are drinks. But goddamn if it's not tasty. Sammy's is well known around the Caol/Fort William/Spean Bridge area, it seems. I remember at T In The Park hearing chants across the campsite of "ALL WE WANT! IS SAMMY'S FISH AND CHIPS! SAMMY'S FISH AND CHIPS! SAMMY'S FISH AND CHIPS!" And I'm not ashamed to admit that before I even went home to put my stuff down after the miserable trek back from T in the Park, I took the time to stop for a deep fried haggis. Delicious. James T.
